About Me

Greetings traveller,
Come, take a seat by the blazing hearth and rest your weary feet. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

As you probably already have gathered, my name is Patch Middleton. I was born in Cumbria in northern England, and now live slightly less north in Manchester, studying Drama and Screen Studies at the University of Manchester. In my spare time I write (obviously) novels and short stories, plays and the odd screen play or comic strip. I also love to watch movies, whether it be in the cinema or DVDs or the wondrous invention of Netflix. In terms of physical activities, I like cycling and ultimate frisbee, but also walking in beautiful natural places like the Lake or Peak Districts.

My love of the fantasy genre came at a young age when I was introduced by my dad to the film 'The Princess Bride'. I instantly fell in love and wanted more. I read books like the Harry Potter series, The Lord of the Rings, and the Septimus Heap books before upgrading to the more adult fantasy such as Gaiman, Hobb and Rothfuss. And of course, I love Game of Thrones.

So hear I am, having a stab at it myself. Thanks for visiting my blog.

My Style...

I care not for prophecies, nor do I care for saving the world. My passion for fantasy stories is very much focused on people, and what makes them tick. I care about small issues and small problems, rather than epic tales and battles and quests (although I do enjoy those). However, this does not mean my stories can't be exciting, just don't expect eagles versus orcs for the fate of the world on every page.
